Chocolate-Laced Mezcal

Three cheers for chocolate! This delicious cocoa cocktail starts with a homemade chocolate milk and mezcal base and boasts a creamy, smoky finish.


Chocolate Mezcal:

  • 1 part mezcal
  • 1 part chocolate milk


  • 2 ounces Chocolate Mezcal
  • ½ ounce agave nectar
  • ½ ounce lime juice
  • 1 ounce cold brew coffee
  • 1 egg white
  • 4 dashes chocolate bitters, plus extra for garnish
  • Green Chartreuse, for coating glass
  • Chocolate shavings, for garnish


To make the Chocolate Mezcal, combine equal parts mezcal and chocolate milk in resealable bottle and chill overnight. After chilling, line a strainer with a coffee filter and pour mixture through the filter to strain.

For the cocktail, combine 2 ounces Chocolate Mezcal with agave nectar, lime juice, cold brew coffee, egg white and chocolate bitters in a cocktail shaker with ice, and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds.

Coat the inside of a cocktail glass with Green Chartreuse, then discard any extra. Strain contents of cocktail shaker into glass and garnish with a few dashes of chocolate bitters and chocolate shavings.
