Community Giving

Since 1926, Nugget Markets has been committed to supporting local non-profits and causes in our communities through donations, sponsorships, and participation in local and regional events. We also offer a Community Scrip Program so nonprofit organizations can invite their supporters to assist in their fundraising efforts.

We focus on supporting 501(c)(3) nonprofits and educational institutions (K-12) located within our immediate communities. The primary causes we support are:

Empowering Future Generations

Donations, Sponsorships & Event Participation Requests

We recently launched an electronic donation, sponsorship, and event participation application platform (June 2022). This online application is the starting point for every donation, sponsorship and event participation request.

We ask that all applications be submitted on the following timelines:

  • Donation applications: four to five (4–5) weeks in advance
  • Sponsorship applications: five to six (5–6) weeks in advance
  • Event participation requests: eight to twelve (8–12) weeks in advance

Please note that applications will ONLY be accepted if submitted electronically. We are no longer accepting applications via email or in-person.

Steps to submit a donation, sponsorship, or event participation application

Online Sponsorship Application

It will take approximately 5–10 minutes to complete the online application and you will need your 501(c)(3) number or government tax ID number to apply.

  1. Start Application:

    Establish an account by clicking the “Sign Up” button on the upper right-hand corner. Enter your email address and create a password. You will receive an account verification code to complete the set-up of your account. Be sure to save your email and password for future use.

  2. Search Your Organization:

    Enter your organization’s name, 501 (c)(3) number or government tax ID number if you are associated with an educational institution. Select your organization.

  3. Eligibility Quiz:

    Please reply to all statements by checking “Yes” or “No”. Press “Submit.” Answers to this quiz will determine if your request meets our community giving criteria.

  4. General Information

    Choose the store location where you would like to submit your donation request. If applying for a sponsorship or event participation, please choose Nugget Markets’ corporate office. Complete all answers. Press “Next.”

  5. Organization Information

    Enter your organization’s 501(c)(3) or tax ID number (this is required), year established, contact information and social media urls. Press “Next.”

  6. Request

    Please include all details asked about your donation, sponsorship and/or event participation request. Press “Next.”

If you checked off sponsorship or event participation you will be led to an additional form. Please include all details asked. Press “Submit”

You will receive an email confirming that your application has been received.

Community Scrip Program

We’re excited to partner with you in supporting local nonprofits and youth educational organizations through our Community Scrip Program.

To get started as a participant:

  • Obtain a community scrip card from the beneficiary organization you’d like to support or at the guest service desk of your local Nugget Markets.
  • Visit our Participants page to register your community scrip card.
  • Shop at Nugget Markets, present your registered community scrip card prior to each transaction and earn up to 4% of your monthly purchases for your chosen schools or nonprofits.

Store Tours

We love connecting with local schools and youth organizations through store tours, which are educational, interactive, and also free of charge! Tours include a visit to every department in our store, where kids get to see and learn behind-the-scenes secrets, like how our bakers make our artisan breads, how our in-house chefs prepare our pizzas, and how our butchers handcraft our sausage.

    The Champ is Here!

    For the first time in Nugget Markets history, one of our amazing associates has claimed the title of Best Bagger in the Nation! Just this week, Alexa S. from our West Sacramento store won 1st place in the National Grocers Association’s Best Bagger Championship in Las Vegas. Not only did she take home the grand prize of $10,000, she also earned ultimate b(r)agging rights as the first ever Nugget Markets associate to bring home the victory.

    Matching Fund Drive for NorCal Wildfires

    As smoke continues to fill the sky, wildfires continue to burn across Northern California, putting our families, friends and neighbors at risk. To help support those most affected by the fires, Nugget Markets has launched a $10,000 matching fund drive at the check stands across all our stores. All donated funds will benefit the American Red Cross' efforts to support community members in Northern California that have been displaced or lost their homes due to the current wildfires.
