Bringing Buffalo Beer back to Sacramento is what New Helvetia Brewing Company is all about! In 1890 the Buffalo Brewing Company was founded based off the successful breweries of Buffalo, New York. It was an ambitious brewery that served beer lovers all over the country. Unfortunately, during the prohibition Buffalo Brewing was forced to scale back and then ceased operation in 1945. The buffalo migrated to Sacramento for a short stent in the 1970’s when Buffalo Brewing re-opened shop, but has since to be found in Sacramento. Today New Helvetia Brewing Company is creating craft beer inspired by Sacramento’s storied Buffalo Brewery. They’ve brought back the buffalo!

At New Helvetia, brewing is a mix of art, science, love and hops. Their beers reflect the diverse and eclectic team that creates the brew, drawing on both old traditions and new techniques. They create classic German lagers, Belgian ales, British beers and many innovative hybrids. New Helvetia views their beers as a part of an ongoing experiment in pursuit of perfection!
