Ice cream cones and popsicles are tasty treats for sure, but there’s nothing quite like an over-the-top sundae piled high with all your favorite toppings. From the frozen dessert base to the cherry on top, get the scoop on what it takes to build the perfect sundae!

Scoop: Whether you like chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, mint or all of the above, it’s your sundae—go wild!

Examples: ice cream, gelato, sorbet, custard, non-dairy frozen dessert, etc.

Syrup: Get saucy with a drizzle of sweet syrup, or double the fun with two of your favorite flavors.

Examples: caramel sauce, fruit syrup, hot fudge, real maple syrup, etc.

Crunch: Adding crunch to your sundae is like adding croutons to your salad, only better.

Examples: caramel popcorn, pretzel pieces, nuts, dry cereal, etc.

Sweet: From fresh fruit to sprinkles, these sweet additions are often literally the cherry on top!

Examples: grilled pineapple, fresh cherries, mini chocolate chips, candy, etc.

The best part of this sundae formula is that you can use as much or as little of any of these categories as you like. It’s food for thought for your own masterful creation. Need a little inspiration? Here are a few tried and true sundae combos we whipped up in-house:

Salted Caramel Sundae: vanilla ice cream + Fran's Dark Chocolate Fudge + Fran's Caramel Sauce + sea salt

Stout it Out Sundae: chocolate ice cream + Beer Kissed Caramel Popcorn in Coconut Vanilla Stout + Fran's Caramel Sauce

Tropical Treat Sundae: vanilla ice cream + grilled pineapple + Fran's Caramel Sauce
