We love celebrating the good times, but the truth of the matter is sometimes times are tough. As part of being a family business, it’s hugely important to us at Nugget Markets that we do what we can to help children and families in times of need.
We love celebrating the good times, but the truth of the matter is sometimes times are tough. As part of being a family business, it’s hugely important to us at Nugget Markets that we do what we can to help children and families in times of need.
One of the ways we’ve been able to contribute to the cause is by supporting the American Red Cross in their efforts to prepare and assist those in need across the nation. As well as contributing financially and donating quality wines to Red Cross fundraisers, we again supported the Heroes’ Luncheon this year (celebrating local heroes from all walks of life) and the Caring for Soldiers outreach (providing much needed health and hygiene products to our warriors fighting overseas).
As part of our Leadership Nugget program, each year our Leadership students (and some of our corporate associates!) volunteer on a housing project for Habitat for Humanity. One year, the Ferland Family Foundation offered to donate an extra $10,000 if we could put together a women’s team, and our lady volunteers rose to the challenge, creating a women’s build day as part of the national program called Women Build! Not only do these volunteer construction projects provide another way for us to give back to our local communities, they also help teach our associates about the importance of servant leadership.
A longtime supporter of Yolo County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for children) and CASA of El Dorado, Nugget Markets also contributes everything from discounts on box lunches to donated event raffle prizes for fundraisers. This year we are also excited to sponsor the 19th Annual “I Am For the Child” dinner in September, where they will be celebrating the "Hearts of Yolo" that have touched the lives of foster children in many positive ways.
We are also proud partners of Empower Yolo (Yolo County’s largest provider of services to women and children affected by domestic violence, abuse and human trafficking), New Morning Youth & Family Services, Yolo Family Service Agency and First 5 Yolo. We are honored to support these wonderful organizations and many others in making a difference for children and families in our community.
