Where would we be without the land on which we live and grow our food? That’s the question The Center for Land-Based Learning is helping people answer, especially local youth and our next generation of farmers.
Where would we be without the land on which we live and grow our food? That’s the question The Center for Land-Based Learning is helping people answer, especially local youth and our next generation of farmers.
According to their mission and vision, The Center for Land-Based Learning exists to cultivate opportunity for the land, environment, youth, business and the future of agriculture. With programs like urban farms, the California Farm Academy and the SLEWS project for high school students, they teach local youth the importance of agriculture and natural resource conservation. This fosters an understanding and respect for the way agriculture, nature and society work together today, and offers inspiration for how we can preserve and improve the relationship for the future.
At Nugget Markets, we are honored to support the cause through a partnership that has extended for more than a decade. We sponsor a variety of events that benefit the The Center for Land-Based Learning, like Dinner at the Barn and this month’s Woodland’s Dinner on Main. Nugget Markets is also proud to support one of the newest urban farms in West Sacramento, just across the street from our West Sacramento store!
But you don’t have to take our word for it—let’s hear from Mary Kimball, Executive Director of this awesome organization!
“The Center for Land-Based Learning would like to congratulate Nugget Market on an incredible 90 years; we are proud to partner with such a respected, valued business in our community. Our mission is to inspire, educate and cultivate the next generation of farmers, agricultural leaders and natural resource stewards—and Nugget Market has supported this mission for over a decade. Our ability to educate thousands of high school students about agriculture in this region, as well as support new farmers, is directly related to Nugget Markets’ investment. Thank you for your partnership, and we look forward to the next 90 years!”
