Curry Powder: This catchall spice mix may vary in composition, but usually contains some combination of coriander, cardamom, cumin, fenugreek, turmeric and chili powder. Some variations also include ingredients like mustard powder, ginger, pepper, cinnamon and cloves.
Coriander: Coriander is an annual herb with warm, spicy and citrus notes. Though coriander refers to both the leaves and seeds, the leaves are generally known as cilantro.
Turmeric: Bright yellow in color, turmeric is a member of the ginger family and is known for having many health benefits.
Fenugreek: This plant can be used as an herb, spice or vegetable. The seeds have a flavor and aroma reminiscent of maple syrup.
Cumin: Originally from the Mediterranean and Middle East regions, cumin is a traditional ingredient in many Indian dishes and the base of other spice blends.
Ginger: Native to Southeast Asia, ginger has a potent flavor used to complement sweet and savory foods and drinks. Depending on the application, ginger can be used fresh, powdered, crystallized or pickled.
