Mussel up on your shellfish savvy with the ABCs of PEI mussels! Straight from Canada’s eastern coastline, Prince Edward Island mussels are known the world over for topnotch taste and consistent quality.
These blue mussels are cultivated in Canada’s nutrient-rich waters via a longline system where mussel seed is suspended in mesh sleeves and left to grow naturally for 1-2 years. This gives them access to plenty of plankton along with protection from predators and cleaner, grit-free shells. Native to the island, they have bluish black shells and are noted as “PEI” mussels when they hit the market.
