Looking to expand your beer horizons? Check out these new releases from a few esteemed breweries!
Sierra Nevada Sidecar Orange Pale Ale: Craft beer pale ales and IPAs have long been admired for their citrusy and fruity characteristics. Those flavors and aromas traditionally have come from the use of hop varieties known for producing those qualities. Craft producers are now taking it a step further and actually adding citrus and other fruits to accentuate and complement those fruity hop notes. In this newest beer from a legendary craft beer pioneer, orange peel is added to the brew kettle and fermentation tank to layer in orange flavor with the Cascade, Equinox and Mandarina hop notes in this pale ale.
Ballast Point Brewing Manta Ray Double IPA: This latest addition to the brewery’s lineup came from their extensive R&D program. Right from the first sip, they knew they had a winner. With aromas of pine needles, melon and citrusy tangerine, this easy sipper can sneak up on you in a hurry, just like its namesake. Clocking in at 8.5% ABV and 70 IBUs, you would expect the beer to be big and heavy on the palate, but it’s not a palate wrecker by any means.
Kona Brewing Hanalei Island IPA: Brewed with passion fruit, guava and orange, this is a tribute to island living. This session style ale, with 4.5% ABV is bright with tropical flavors from the fruits as well as the Galaxy and Azacca hops. Light-bodied with a copper color, it’s an easy-drinking unpretentious and flavorful beer.
Deschutes Pacific Wonderland Lager: While not as big and bold as many of the craft beers on the market today, this is certainly not your father’s lager either. Citrus and floral notes from dry hopping are followed by a delicate malt body with herbal hop flavors. With a traditional crisp, clean lager finish, this beer packs an unexpected amount of flavor into a lager-style beer.
