You already know our kitchen is stocked with delicious, chef-prepared dishes, but did you know one of those dishes is an award-winning recipe created by one of our very own chefs? That’s right, recently our talented culinary team participated in a recipe competition sponsored by Best Foods Mayonnaise, and the winning recipe is now in stores!
You already know our kitchen is stocked with delicious, chef-prepared dishes, but did you know one of those dishes is an award-winning recipe created by one of our very own chefs? That’s right, recently our talented culinary team participated in a recipe competition sponsored by Best Foods Mayonnaise, and the winning recipe is now in stores!
For the competition, our kitchen managers and chefs de cuisine each submitted a recipe that was then tested by our Director of Kitchen Operations, Kaeley L., and Executive Chef Stazi D. plus two representatives from Best Foods, Chef Rudy and Alysa. Recipes were judged with an eye on what would feature well in our kitchen department, reflected seasonality and included Best Foods Mayonnaise as an integral ingredient.
Out of all the recipes submitted, one winner was chosen to go to the 2017 World of Flavors conference in Napa, and their recipe is also now featured in all of our kitchens company-wide. Congratulations to Tyson Bastunas, our chef de cuisine from Nugget Markets, Davis (Covell Blvd.) for his winning Spring Asparagus & Farro Salad recipe!
One of the great things about this recipe is that it’s adaptable for enjoying all year by simply switching out the leading veggie with whatever is in season. For spring it’s asparagus, in summer and fall there are green beans aplenty, and in the winter Brussels sprouts make this salad shine.
