Here at Nugget Markets, we’re dedicated to taking care of the community we call home. One of the ways we do that is by supporting local causes and nonprofits like ExtraFood.org. This amazing organization works to end hunger and food waste in Marin County by delivering surplus food to those in need.

By rescuing excess fresh food from businesses like Nugget Markets, securing freshly-made meals and immediately delivering them to nonprofits serving Marin’s most vulnerable children, adults and families, ExtraFood is addressing the critical issues of hunger, wasted food and the climate crisis.

We are extremely grateful for the partnership we’ve had with ExtraFood since the day we opened our Marin stores. Some of the ways we partner with them is by donating food from our stores in Tiburon, Corte Madera and Novato, and by sponsoring their refrigerated truck which will help the organization rescue and deliver food on an even larger scale. We're also honored to support the vital services ExtraFood provides by contributing $10,000 to their COVID-19 Relief Fund.

Even in times like these, ExtraFood not only continues to fulfill a valuable service to the Marin community, but has grown their program to support the increased numbers that are insecure due to the pandemic. They are currently serving more than 8,000 individuals and delivering 3,822,417 pounds of food to 128 sites each month in Marin County. The program is also keeping 312,678 pounds of methane from warming our planet.
