I’m ready for a pizza party! Where dough I start? You can make your own dough with our simple Beer Pizza Crust recipe, or pick up some pre-made dough fresh from our kitchen! (If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also Think Outside the Crust for other fun pizza foundations.)
Okay, I have a ball of pizza dough. Now what? To get started, bring your fresh or frozen pizza dough to room temperature. Also, be sure the dough is well floured to prevent sticking in the shaping process.
Am I really going to have to throw it in the air…? Not necessarily, but it is better to stretch the dough by hand as opposed to using a rolling pin, as that could force out too much air. Pro Tip: Use the back of your hands when stretching it to help prevent tearing.
Success—it’s flat! Time to top it? You bet! Just remember, less is more when it comes to toppings. You don't want to overload the dough with sauce or other extras, as that can create a soggy crust.
How do I bake pizza in a regular oven? In a standard home oven, preheat to 450–500°F. Ideally, you’ll want to cook your pizza on a pizza stone, but if you don’t have one, you can also use a preheated baking sheet. For a crispier crust, bake on the bottom rack.
Can I barbecue my pizza? Yes! Heat your grill to 500°F, with coals or flame on half of it—this way the pizza can be turned to prevent burning while allowing the toppings to cook. Close the lid to help create an oven-like atmosphere. You can also use a pizza stone if you have one.
It’s done! Time to eat? Almost! It may be hard to resist, but let your pizza rest on a cooling rack for a minute before slicing to help prevent the crust from becoming soggy. Then slice and enjoy!
