Early March always signals the rise of corned beef, cabbage and green foods galore, but those aren’t the only ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Irish Soda Bread is also an iconic (and fantastic) seasonal treat that our amazing Bakery just so happens to make!
Traditionally, Irish Soda Bread is made with only four ingredients: flour, baking soda, buttermilk (or sour milk) and salt. The reaction between the baking soda and acidic buttermilk gives this quick bread a good rise without the need for kneading. While typically plain, it can also be made with extra ingredients like caraway seeds or dried fruit. (If you want to give it a go, try your hand at this recipe!)
