Nugget Markets’ produce managers and buyers just got back from a fun-filled trip to visit our friends at Full Belly Farm in the Capay Valley. While on our visit, we learned all about the 300-acre farm that has been growing organically for more than 28 years. Fully Belly Farm is family owned and operated, and their tender love and care shows in their delicious products. Dru Rivers, one of the founders of the farm, shared their passion for not only growing food, but also growing farmers. While the concept sounded a bit strange at first, Dru explained that Fully Belly Farm offers an internship to students who are interested in starting their own farms. Full Belly’s internship program has grown more than 100 farmers, resulting in more than 100 new organic farms across our country.
Spring has definitely sprung, and we’re well on our way to summer—and if that means one thing for our Coffee & Juice Bars, it’s that some of the best produce is now in season and waiting to be turned into delicious, healthful juices!
My how they’ve grown! Our produce specialists just took another trip to Terra Firma Farm in Winters to follow up on their heirloom tomatoes’ progress after being transplanted. Paul with Terra Firma is excited about their progress and we’re thrilled to see the tomatoes doing so well! We look forward to carrying Terra Firma’s incredibly juicy heirloom tomatoes this season!

You know spring has sprung when these beauties start popping up. Set your table with love – perfect love that is. Tulips signify “perfect love”, and each color expresses a unique meaning. Yellow tulips symbolize cheerful thoughts, white expresses forgiveness, purple represents royalty, and red says, “Believe me.”
Tip: Re-cut the stems of your tulips when you get them home to keep them fresh longer. Cut the stems diagonally, removing about one-half inch. Tulips continue growing after being cut, up to an inch, and will conform to the shape of the container, so keep this in mind when choosing your vase.
Dyeing eggs is a fun way to celebrate Easter with the whole family. If you like all the colors but not all the chemicals, try making your own dyes using everyday foods from your pantry! Not only do these dyes create unique and vibrant colors, they’re also completely natural.
