As you may already know, here at Nugget Markets, we’re committed to supporting local nonprofits and causes right here in our community. One of our fantastic community partners is Pride Industries Foundation, based right down the road in Roseville, California
We love celebrating the good times, but the truth of the matter is sometimes times are tough. As part of being a family business, it’s hugely important to us at Nugget Markets that we do what we can to help children and families in times of need.
School’s back in session and we’re excited to ring in the new school year by continuing to support our local students, teachers, schools and educational foundations! Since 1926, Nugget Markets has been committed to supporting our community, with a special focus on youth education and empowerment.
You may have read back in 2015 how Nugget Markets started partnering with UC Davis to help reduce food waste and provide college students with fresh fruits and veggies through their Fruit & Veggie Up program. Nearly one full year later, we’re proud to say the program is still going strong and have some exciting updates to prove it!
At Nugget Markets, we’re committed to working towards a greener, more sustainable future every day, in every store. That said, we’ve got some cool news to share!
The miles are officially tallied from our companywide May is Bike Month cycling challenge, and we have some exciting numbers to report.
CSS began collecting food scraps from our West Sacramento store as a trial program in 2013. Soon after, our stores in Woodland and Davis joined in the program and started providing food scraps later that year. In early 2014, our Sacramento and Elk Grove stores started participating in the program, too.
Wow, what a weekend! Nearly 30 Nugget Markets associates and friends took part in the Sacramento Pride Parade and Festival Saturday on the Capitol Mall, representing our stores all the way from Marin County up to El Dorado Hills!
For 24 hours from April 30 to May 1, Nugget Markets team members and other excited supporters participated in this year’s Relay for Life at UC Davis. Overcoming gale-force winds all day, everyone had an absolute blast supporting a fantastic cause!
